You go girl!

You may as well throw out all your clothes because soon they won’t matter so much anymore. In the near future, when it comes to looking good, looking healthy will rule.

Shopping habits have changed and the hunt for unique vintage items and fast fashion help to bridge the gap between high and low fashion and is encouraging our  personal expression to shine freely for all to admire (or ridicule, depending on what kind of friends you have. If it’s the latter, may I suggest you either get new friends or tone it down a notch). In Jean P Gaultier’s Fall 12 show he was widely criticized for promoting the heroin chic look. Why? Because, unlike in the 90’s, it’s just not cool to abuse yourself. We all know by now that smoking dulls your skin, gives you wrinkles, yellows your teeth and makes you smell bad. We all have access to information on how to eat healthy, take care of our skin and hair, and exercise tips. It doesn’t have to cost a lot, it just takes some effort.

Now that everyone and their grandmother is a party animal and have the pictures to prove it, the allure of the glamourous party life is becoming a little watered down. Everyone can, and does, do it. It’s really not soo special anymore. Of course, that doesn’t stop us from watching TMZ and getting our almost daily fix of Lindsey Lohan, Snooky and (fill in the black). Drugs are cheap and readily available, as are McDonald’s hamburgers, Coke and Pepsi.

Back in the 17th  to 19th century, white people prided themselves on being as pale as possible. Only peasants had to work outdoors and the ruling aristocracy could afford to lay about indoors all day. In today’s modern world, it is the less wealthy people who are pale as a result of working long hours indoors and eating toxic prepared foods.  The wealthy are the ones who can afford to practice yoga at exotic beach spas, eat organic food, and  generally live a much healthier lifestyle. And, as you might have already guessed, the masses now want a part of it. The rise in popularity of brands like Lululemon, Nike, Puma and Adidas are making working out cool and the frozen faces of the over Botoxed set may just have made a few people realize there must be a better way.

Time is a luxury and a healthy look is your best accessory.

The continued rise of the super star athlete, the yoga trend, dance television shows, extreme sports and so many other sports can’t help but influence us. Eating organic is a bragging right and natural medicine is becoming increasingly popular. If you’re looking for a bandwagon to jump on, I suggest this one! Not only will you look amazing but you’ll feel it too. Double your money’s worth and get on it!

At the end of last month, Stella McCartney, in conjunction with Adidas, opened her first stand alone store for the brand in London, England.  According to the press release, in 2004, Stella was the first ever high end designer to collaborate with a functional sportswear line. Always considered cool and part of the in crowd, she’s  been a vegetarian for years and has always promoted a conscious and healthy way of living. I like to think of myself as a leader, but in this case I’ll follow her lead.
